– ‘Ubayd ibn Hunayn, the servant of Zayd ibn al-Khattāb, (God be pleased with him) said: “I heard Abu Hurayra (God be pleased with him) say, ‘I was walking with God’s Messenger (God bless him and grant him peace) when he heard a man reciting Chapter 112. The Prophet (God bless him and grant him peace) said, ‘He will be admitted.’ I asked him, ‘Where will he be admitted?’ He said, ‘To Paradise.’ AbuHurayra (God be pleased with him) said, ‘I wanted to go to that man and give him the glad tidings [of the Messenger], but I feared lest I should miss lunch with God’s Messenger (God bless him and grant him peace). When I [later] went to look for the man, I found he had gone.’” Hadith narrated by al-Hākim in his mustadrak and ImamMālik in his muwatta’ [multi-volume book of hadith and jurisprudence].

– Abu Sa’īd al-Khudri (God be pleased with him) reported that a man said [to the Messenger]: “O Messenger of God, I have a neighbor who performs the Night Prayer by reciting none but Chapter 112-as if he thought its merit were not that much. God’s Messenger (God bless him and grant him peace) said, ‘By He in Whose Hand is my soul, its [merit] equals that of the third of the Qur’ān.’” Hadith narrated by al-Bukhāri (God have mercy upon him).

– Ubay ibn Ka’b (God be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (God bless him and grant him peace) said: “He who reads Chapter 112 is like the one who has read the third of the Qur’ān.” Hadith narrated by Muslim and al-Hākim (God have mercy upon them).
