The Prophet’s Companions [aṣ-Ṣaḥāba] include the Emigrants [al-Muhājirūn] and the Supporters [al-Anṣār]. The Emigrants moved from Mecca to Medina, leaving their people and possessions for the sake of God and His Messenger. The Supporters are those who hosted and supported them.
