Contrary to the believing mind that has one eye on the imperceptible world (Al-Ghayb) through Revelation and the other eye on the perceptible world through the experimental tools that God put at its disposal, the instrumental or materialistic mind (al ‘Aql al-Ma‘āshi) believes only in what is tangible, utilitarian, and worldly, is proud of its scientific achievements, and proclaims to be a self-made god.
